What a find!

I was in the area south of Newbury, pretty wild country.  Beautifully manicured hedges but lots of mud on the roads.  I had visited a sculptor who purchased some land or maybe water many years ago now.  I will try to explain.  The land is around and under the ancient water cress beds of a nearby castle.  The presence of the fresh water of course attracts wild life and especially birds.  His studio looks out over the beds and the constant activity of different types of birds washing, feeding and all the other things birds do in and around water.  We will be showing some of the fruits of his labour at Martins when we eventually open my new premises.  A very interesting couple of hours.

As soon as I could find a place to stop safely I wrestled with my satnav and found that my next appointment was only 30 minutes away (just as well, I was going to be late).  I quickly rang to make sure that she was still able to see me.  No problem, but I had to ring again because in very rural areas, post codes cover quite a wide area.  All done, and the work lived up to expectations!

Gosh what a long introduction, what I also found was the Fox!

The Fox is a country pub in the village of Tangley that serves a full Thai restaurant menu as well as a range of lunch specials and monthly specials.  I had really only gone in for a light sandwich.  As of course I was tempted and as is my want I yielded and chose a Satay Chicken Wrap.  It was de-lish.  The service was attentive, the whole experience was great.  And the roaring fire in the bar allowed me to warm up after the half hour or so in a freezing artist’s studio.
